Position Summary:
The General Marine Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of marine mechanical and electrical systems, including both AC/DC circuits. This role requires a hands-on, versatile technician with the ability to work across multiple systems, use diagnostic software via laptop, and travel as needed to support customers both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair marine AC/DC electrical systems and mechanical equipment on yachts and workboats.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Use a laptop to perform diagnostics, firmware updates, and system configuration.
- Install, test, and service equipment such as pumps, inverters, control panels, and navigation systems.
- Provide on-site technical support, including emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Service Coordinators, and technical teams to deliver high-quality results.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, vessel crews, and coworkers.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in marine service or general mechanical/electrical roles.
- Strong knowledge of yacht and commercial vessel systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic).
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and laptops for system evaluation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with general tool/equipment maintenance and upkeep.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable performing repairs in varied marine environments, including confined spaces.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow technical instructions.
- Physically fit to board vessels in shipyards, docks, or at anchor.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
Travel Requirements:
- Must be willing and able to travel frequently, including internationally.
- Travel may be required on short notice to support urgent service needs.
- Valid passport and driver’s license required.
