Job Description

Field Service Engineer – Electrical Bias

📍 Heybridge / Hybrid | Full-Time | UK Travel + International Opportunities
💼 [Client confidential – Leading Global Engineering & Power Solutions Company]

Are you a skilled Electrical Engineer with hands-on experience in marine or power systems? Do you enjoy solving complex technical problems in the field, travelling across the UK and internationally, and working on cutting-edge propulsion and power management systems?

We’re recruiting for a Field Service Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a world-renowned engineering business that designs, builds, and supports high-performance propulsion and power systems for the marine and land sectors — from naval vessels to superyachts, commercial ships to critical land-based infrastructure.

🔍 What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be a key ambassador for the company, delivering both proactive and reactive technical service across a wide range of mission-critical systems. Your work will include:

  • Commissioning, servicing, and repairing marine power systems, including IPMS/AMS, propulsion systems, switchboards, and power management systems (PMS)
  • Performing diagnostics, fault finding, and upgrades on electrical systems both in the UK and overseas
  • Supporting new product installations, system commissioning, and functional testing
  • Delivering technical reports, on-site troubleshooting, and emergency response under a structured call-out rota
  • Acting as a technical mentor and supporting junior team members where required
  • Collaborating with internal teams across engineering, sales, and service to deliver customer success
  • Maintaining parts/equipment stock and ensuring H&S compliance at all times

✅ What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone technically confident and professionally reliable, ideally with:

  • Strong electrical engineering knowledge – installation, diagnostics & maintenance
  • Experience working on marine electrical systems or industrial switchboards
  • Comfort with travel – this role involves regular UK-wide travel, with potential overseas deployments (incl. at-sea operations under CONDO)
  • A hands-on approach, physical fitness, and the ability to thrive in demanding environments

🎓 Required Skills & Experience:

  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation & Maintenance, or equivalent (HNC/HND/NVQ Level 3 or higher preferred)
  • Solid understanding of health & safety best practices
  • Proficiency with MS Office and technical report writing
  • Full UK Driving Licence and valid passport
  • Willingness to undergo MOD Security Clearance and CONDO training

🌍 What’s In It for You:

  • Join a globally respected engineering brand
  • Work on mission-critical technology powering naval, marine, and land-based systems
  • Gain international exposure through global deployments and product training (incl. in Germany)
  • Hybrid working from the Heybridge base, with flexible field-based assignments
  • Career progression, technical development, and structured training support

🛠 Whether you're a marine engineer, commissioning specialist, or a hands-on electrical technician ready for something new — if you want a role where your expertise has real-world impact, this could be the challenge you're looking for.
